Hello,

At Chennai, there is an Open School Their website: http://sankalpnet.org/

'Sankalp' in Sanskrit, has many associated meanings - 'will', 'purpose', 'wish', 'intent'. For us at Sankalp all these meanings are true and relevant. Born of a deep concern for the special needs of children with learning difficulties and other development challenges, Sankalp was set up, under the SANKALP TRUST - a non-profit organisation in 1999.

The Open school has two streams of education services
- a full time intervention for children facing learning challenges
- Remedial education part time to correct the learning challenges of school childrenSankalp - The Open School

NIOS - National Institute for Open Schooling

NIOS (National Institute for Open schooling) is one of the three central boards of secondary education in our country , the other two being CBSE and ICSE.
The candidates appear as a private candidate.
NIOS is as well recognised as other central board exam and is ideal one for those who opt for an alternate and do not seek the main stream Stateboard examination.
Admissions to colleges are based on marks and the NIOS scheme offers an examination framework that is more flexible and with possibility for scoring. The exams are held through a National level exam and recognized by most universities.
